Yet, constantly reminded of this potential connection, he cannot help but develop a fascination for his illustrious namesake. While secretly striving to complete a very particular project for an ideal library, he thus follows in the footsteps of Melville, but also of Malcolm Lowry and the architect Lebbeus Woods, inviting us on a methodical survey of Manhattan. And to a plunge into a dizzying stream of thoughts oscillating between misanthropy and artistic fascination, paranoia and flashes of lucidity, brilliant insights and incoherent whims, reflections of a madness always latent in a man who never ceases to seek his place in the modernity that surrounds him.
